2013 Funding Initiatives

The Topeka Community Foundation is pleased to announce the following initiatives for 2013:

Youth Development (Concept Paper Now Available! Deadline is February 11, 2013.)
Collaborative initiatives which teach useful skills and build self-confidence of young people in Shawnee County ensuring capable, effective leaders for the next generation. Click here for the on-line application.

Mental Health

Educating, protecting and advancing the rights of persons with mental health disabilities in Shawnee County. The RFP will be available on-line May 24, 2013.

Healthy Lifestyles
Programs/projects which facilitate healthy lifestyles for residents in Nemaha, Riley, Pottawatomie, Jackson, Jefferson, Douglas, Shawnee, Wabaunsee, Osage and Lyon Counties.

The Healthy Lifestyles Concept Paper will be available on-line August 2nd and will be due August 22nd.

Affordable Care Act Opportunity Fund for Kansas

Overview

The Affordable Care Act Opportunity Fund (ACA Fund) is a $450,000 donor-advised fund administered by the Topeka Community Foundation. The ACA Fund was established by five health philanthropies serving the state of Kansas – the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City, Kansas Health Foundation, REACH Healthcare Foundation, Sunflower Foundation: Health Care for Kansans, and United Methodist Health Ministry Fund.

The ACA Fund was established to provide short-term, focused grant funding to entities and/or partnerships that are positioned to apply for and manage federal grant dollars related to ACA implementation. Grant awards will be in the $5,000 to $30,000 range for a grant term of up to six months (longer-term projects, up to 12 months, will be approved with appropriate justification). Applicants to the ACA Fund must be doing work in Kansas for the benefit of Kansans, and must have identified at least one federal ACA grant opportunity for which they believe they can be competitive.

The Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of Topeka Community Foundation Giving Cards. Much like retail gift cards, Giving Cards are given to celebrate birthdays, holidays and other special occasions. Giving Cards can be redeemed to benefit any 501(c)(3) public charity in Topeka and the United States (including schools and churches).
